I am one of the co-founders of Canine Lifeline and we’ve recently taken on a couple of dogs with major medical needs. Their medical expenses combined will exceed $3,600, so we would be thrilled to win this contest. The two dogs requiring major medical care are Red and Toby.
Red is a one-year-old Retriever/Shepherd mix. He had been hit by a car and was in great pain with many scrapes and abrasions but most seriously, had some damage to his hips. X-rays revealed a double fracture to one of his hips. After a trip to an orthopedic specialist it was revealed that one of the fractures was likely impacting the sciatic nerve. The surgery to repair the fracture will cost over $2600. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
Toby is a young Chocolate Lab male, who came into an overcrowded dog pound with a very large growth (six pounds!) on one of his back legs. We just couldn’t turn our back on this sweet dog and pulled him from the pound knowing that he would be facing an expensive surgery. He had the surgery on June 7th and the good news is that the tumor is benign! The pathology reports showed a clean excision of the tumor tissue which means it is likely never to recur. Toby’s medical expenses are over $1,000.
As you can see Canine Lifeline could really use the money from this contest. Please take a minute out of your day to vote for us. You can vote as often as you like, so please vote often and vote daily! Voting is open until 11:59 PM CDT on June 30th. Please also forward this information to your friends and family, post on your Facebook profile, Tweet, etc. You can use the share buttons below to help spread the word.
